Daniel is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Fractal EMS. Daniel is a Navy nuclear engineer and MBA who specializes in using predictive analytics to create market advantages. Formerly Daniel was the Operations Center Manager at Xtreme Power. He directed the operation of 77 MW of energy storage and energy management systems across the world including the first energy storage projects in PJM and ERCOT. While at Xtreme Power, he led the creation of the first power trading platform using battery energy storage. Prior to Xtreme Power, Daniel completed his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a surface Nuclear Propulsion Officer for the US Navy onboard the USS George Washington (CVN-73) and the USS Samuel B Roberts (FFG58). Daniel has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the UT Austin. Daniel also co-founded Fractal Energy Storage Consultants, a leading energy storage consulting and engineering firm, and is regarded as a subject matter expert in the energy storage industry.

Richard is a co-founder of Fractal EMS. Richard is an embedded systems developer with over 30 years of experience in scientific and industrial automation. In 2005 Richard took entrepreneurial leave from Sandia National Laboratories to form a consultancy focused on real-time and embedded control systems. Richard led software development for two utility scale energy storage companies and was directly involved in designing and deploying over 75 MW of grid scale energy storage. Richard’s first energy storage system was in 2007 for the South Pole Telescope project with Xtreme Power Solutions where he led the US software team, then later Younicos, before jumping out in 2016 to work on a distributed control system for energy storage. Richard is the co-author of “LabVIEW Graphical Programming’ (McGraw-Hill) and now leads a 5-person development team responsible for the Fractal EMS controls and software.

Judy is a co-founder of Fractal EMS and leads marketing and go to market strategy for the company. Judy is also the Chief Executive Officer of Fractal Energy Storage Consultants, a leading international energy storage consultant firm.  McElroy is a chemist by trade with energy consultation services spanning over 5 Gigawatt of energy storage and hybrid generation projects. Prior to Fractal, McElroy was the Chief Marketing Officer for two energy storage companies.

Prior to Fractal EMS, Nick served two years with Fractal Energy Storage Consultants as VP of Operations overseeing technical due diligence and operation activities.  Prior to Fractal, Nick served Younicos as Manager of Global Operations and Maintenance for six years where he led a team that managed monitoring and operations for >150 MW of battery storage. Nick managed all O&M activities for new and existing customer projects, designed custom preventative maintenance programs and provided operator training. Nick was also the Control Room Manager for Younicos for two years and responsible for remote monitoring, preventative and tactical response and data analytics and testing for up to 8 different sites rated above 135 MW. He would additionally travel to project sites to serve as Field Operations and assist local Maintenance Technicians with battery installation and commissioning. Nick served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years aboard the USS Rhode Island 740 as a Nuclear Electronics Technician. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College in Nuclear Engineering Technology.

Prior to joining Fractal EMS, Juan served as VP of Engineering at Fractal Energy Storage Consultants overseeing the owner’s engineering services. Prior to Fractal, Juan was the Senior Power Systems and Control Engineer with Younicos / Aggrekko and also an energy storage engineer with Xtreme Power.  Juan has a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Texas Austin. Juan has deep industry experience specializing in storage design, commissioning, operations and control code algorithm development. Juan is also proficient in scoping, quoting, scheduling and integrating storage projects. Juan also oversees all ROC activities including monitoring, operations, maintenance, and data analytics.

Alex has worked in the energy storage industry since 2014 in various roles in operations, data science, and data engineering. Prior to joining Fractal EMS, Alex managed a team at Aggreko consisting of the Remote Operations Center, data analysts, and field technicians to monitor, operate, maintain, and optimize the global energy storage fleet. During this time, Alex developed expertise in handling, storing, and processing the wealth of data available from energy storage systems. He managed the data flow and developed automated reporting systems for utility scale energy storage projects of various equipment manufacturers, control applications, energy markets. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas State University in Physics.

Brian began his career working as an Applications Engineer for National Instruments, where he developed a mastery of NI’s hardware and software solutions. Prior to joining Fractal EMS, Brian was the Lead Embedded Software Engineer for Aggreko and a Power Electronics Engineer for Younicos and Xtreme Power. Over the course of 9 years, Brian developed numerous distributed control applications and led the software development for a 250 kVA bidirectional power conversion system, which was designed and certified against various UL and IEC standards. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Business Foundations Certificate from the University of Texas at Austin.
